Awareness campaign on “Health and Well-being” was organized at ICAR–CIARI Regional Station, Minicoy, on 4th November 2025 in connection with Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Riyaz A. K., Medical Officer-cum-CHO, AYUSH, Minicoy, who emphasized the importance of maintaining physical, mental, and emotional health through balanced lifestyle practices and highlighted the role of traditional AYUSH systems in promoting holistic well-being. As part of the program, medicinal plants such as Coleus and Calotropis were distributed to the participants, encouraging the adoption of herbal and natural remedies for health maintenance. The event concluded with an interactive discussion and active participation from the islanders and staff of the station.
Awareness on Handicraft among the tribal farmers of Car Nicobar Islands
An awareness programme was conducted at Kakana village of Car Nicobar to create awareness on the handicraft making and its importance for livelihood improvement of the tribal farmers. A total of 26 farmers were participated and displayed the handicraft and Indigenous Knowledge on Virgin coconut oil production, coconut shell crafts and Nicobar mat preparation methods under the theme of handicraft.
