A Field Day on “Organic Cultivation of Brinjal under Coconut Plantations” was organized in
connection with JanJatiya Gaurav Divas on 1st November 2025 at the ICAR–CIARI Regional Station,
Minicoy. The programme aimed to promote sustainable and organic farming practices suitable for
island and tribal farmers, focusing on the integration of brinjal cultivation within existing coconut-
based systems. Farm women from different parts of Minicoy and officials from ICAR–CIARI
participated in the event. The programme successfully highlighted the potential of organic
intercropping systems in enhancing farm income and promoting ecological balance, aligning with the
spirit of Jan Jatiya Gaurav Divas in celebrating and empowering tribal farming communities.
