Dr. Kairam Narsaiah, Assistant Director General, ICAR, New Delhi, visited ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI), Port Blair on 24th October 2025. During his visit, he toured various research and demonstration units of the Institute, including the Horticultural Farm at Shippighat, the Medicinal Garden at Garacharma, and the Dweep Ornamental Fish Unit at Sri Vijaya Puram. He was accompanied by Dr. Jai Sunder, Director, ICAR-CIARI, and Dr. Ajit Arun Waman, Senior Scientist, Horticulture Division.
Dr. Narsaiah appreciated the institute’s efforts in developing location-specific technologies suited to the island ecosystem. He also interacted with the scientists of ICAR-CIARI and discussed ongoing innovations and research initiatives aimed at enhancing the livelihood of island farmers. His visit served as an encouragement to the scientific community to continue their commitment toward sustainable agricultural development in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
